Day 5 · Zeros of a Polynomial

Today let's learn about zeros of a polynomial!

One step at a time

Let's explore today's lesson

4 learning moments

A zero of a polynomial p(x) is a value of x for which p(x) = 0! For example, p(x) = x - 2 has a zero at x = 2, since p(2) = 0.

p(x) = x² - 5x + 6 = (x-2)(x-3) has zeros at x = 2 and x = 3.

Graphically, the zeros of a polynomial are where its graph crosses the x-axis (x-intercepts).

Activity: Find the zeros of p(x) = x - 5 and p(x) = (x-1)(x-4).
