Day 1 · What is a Set? Representing Sets

Today let's learn what a set is and how to represent one!

One step at a time

Let's explore today's lesson

4 learning moments

A set is a well-defined collection of distinct objects! For example, the set of vowels in English: {a, e, i, o, u}.

Set members are written inside curly braces { } and separated by commas.

We can write a set in 2 ways: roster form, like {1,2,3,4,5}, and set-builder form, like {x : x is a natural number less than 6}.

Activity: Try writing the set of days of the week in roster form.
