Day 1 · Relations and Functions

Today let's learn about relations and functions!

One step at a time

Let's explore today's lesson

4 learning moments

A relation from set A to set B is a subset of A×B — a collection of ordered pairs (a, b), where a comes from A and b comes from B.

A function is a special type of relation where each element in the domain is paired with exactly one element in the codomain.

If f(x) = x + 5, then f(2) = 2 + 5 = 7.

Activity: Check whether the pairs {(1,2), (1,3)} form a function, and explain why or why not.
