Whole numbers are 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, ... going on forever, with no fractions or negative values.
Adding 0 to any number keeps it the same (the additive identity property), like 7 + 0 = 7.
Adding whole numbers can be done in any order! 4 + 9 equals 9 + 4.
Activity: Try proving that 5 + 8 and 8 + 5 give the same result.
