To add or subtract fractions with different denominators, first find the LCM of the denominators! 1/3 + 1/4 → LCM is 12 → 4/12 + 3/12 = 7/12.
3/4 - 1/6 → LCM is 12 → 9/12 - 2/12 = 7/12.
Activity: Try adding 2/5 + 1/3 by first finding the LCM of the denominators.
