Day 2 · Representing Real Numbers on the Number Line

Real numbers include both rational and irrational numbers together! Every real number has a place on the number line.

We can locate √2 on the number line using the Pythagorean theorem: √2 ≈ 1.414.

√2 lies between 1 and 2 on the number line, because 1² = 1 and 2² = 4, while (√2)² = 2.
