Day 5 · Introduction to Polynomials: Degree and Terms

Today let's learn about polynomials!

One step at a time

Let's explore today's lesson

4 learning moments

A polynomial is an expression with variables raised to non-negative whole-number powers! For example, 3x² + 2x - 5.

The degree of a polynomial is the highest power of the variable in the expression. For example, 3x² + 2x - 5 has degree 2.

A degree-1 polynomial is called linear, degree-2 is quadratic, and degree-3 is cubic.

Activity: Try finding the degree of 5x³ - 2x + 1 and 7x - 3.

Practice and save your progress
